💬 Verdict: comment — notes only, nothing blocking.
This is a large, well-executed feature PR (board pinning/ordering + the "for you" strip) and the implementation matches the extensive documentation added alongside it. I did not find correctness bugs in the new code:
BoardService.InTheirOrder's LEFT JOIN and the!= nulltie-breaks correctly counteract Postgres's default NULLS-FIRST-on-DESC behavior, matching the documented intent (pinned-first-by-pin-age, then most-recently-opened, then deploymentPosition).MarkOpenedAsync'sExecuteUpdateAsync-then-insert pattern, gated byRendererInfo.IsInteractiveinBoardPage.OnParametersSetAsync, correctly fires once per interactive navigation to a board (verified against the surrounding lifecycle method) and not on prerender or on same-board reloads.ForYouService's two-pass design is sound: pass one filters in SQL on plaintext (CardAssignee.MemberDid) and on due-date nullness (which EF handles pre-converter for nullable columns), pass two re-filters byboardIdsto close the race where a card could move boards between passes — a real (if narrow) leak this correctly guards against.ForYouService.Pick's ordering logic matches its unit tests exactly (dated-before-undated, soonest-first, mine-before-others, then most-recently-updated).BoardOrderscleanup inDeleteAsyncandglobal-teardown.js), and theBoardOrderentity's justification for being its own table (rather than columns onBoardMember) are all consistent and correctly wired intoKanbanDbContext.data-board-idand other selectors the new e2e test relies on already exist. One thing worth a second look, not a functional bug:
Services/Changelog.csmerges two pre-existing (still-Unreleased, from an earlier per-board-admins change) English and German bullets into one, dropping the sentence about a member promoted on the old members page no longer seeing it once promoted outside the configured admin list. That's unrelated to issue #195 and isn't mentioned in the PR description — worth confirming it's an intentional cleanup (fits the "copy should be dense" convention) rather than an accidental edit that drops information a reader might still want.Minor, non-blocking nits:
ForYouService's first pass evaluatesc.Assignees.Any(a => a.MemberDid == did)twice (once in theWhere, once in theSelect), which likely costs a duplicated EXISTS subquery per row rather than one; andSetPinnedAsync's read-then-write onBoardOrderisn't atomic under concurrent pin/unpin clicks from the same member, though the impact of that race is negligible (a click order gets scrambled, nothing is lost or leaked).⏱ 2m 51s · 7 turns · tokens: 84.5k in / 14.4k out (+595.2k cache-read)

@ -94,3 +94,2 @@"The board on a phone gives its width to the cards: less space around them, so titles fit on one line and more of the column is on screen — and the column's name starts where its cards do.","Boards now have admins of their own, given on the board's access page — several are possible, handing a board over is one tick, and two boards may share a name.","The members page is now for the deployment's configured admins. An admin promoted here who is not in that configuration no longer sees it — who runs a board is decided on that board's access page.","Boards now have admins of their own, given on the board's access page — several are possible, handing a board over is one tick, and two boards may share a name. The members page is the deployment's own admins alone now.",This merges two previously-separate
Unreleasedbullets (from an earlier per-board-admins change, still unreleased) into one, and in doing so drops the sentence "An admin promoted here who is not in that configuration no longer sees it — who runs a board is decided on that board's access page." This edit is unrelated to issue #195 (the PR this closes) and isn't called out in the PR description. If intentional (e.g. tightening copy per the density convention), that's fine — but worth confirming it wasn't an accidental casualty of a find-and-replace, since it removes real information about a behavior change.🤖 On it — follow along in the action run; the reply will link the full session transcript.

Pushed to
claude/issue-195(5dc54ca). All three findings were real, though the first one's diagnosis wasn't.The changelog merge was forced, not accidental.
ChangelogTests.The_copy_stays_short_enough_to_be_readcaps an entry at seven bullets and a line at 260 characters; the new pinning bullet was the eighth, so something had to be merged. Reverting the merge fails the suite. What was avoidable is the information loss, so I merged the same two bullets again with the dropped fact folded back in, in both locales and inside the limit:The duplicated
EXISTSwas real.ForYouService's narrowing pass asked "is this member on it" twice — once in theWhere, once in theSelect. One written-outLEFT JOINontoCardAssigneesnow answers both, the same shape (and for the same "one round trip, no correlated subquery" reason) asBoardService.InTheirOrder; the key is(CardId, MemberDid), so the join cannot multiply a card out. The SQL the pass now sends, fromToQueryString()against a live Postgres — one join, noEXISTS:The pin race is worse than the review says. It isn't a scrambled click order —
BoardOrder's key is(MemberDid, BoardId), so two tabs that both find no row and both insert end with the loser raising aDbUpdateExceptionout of a click that in fact got exactly what it asked for. Reproduced against a real database on the pre-fix code (THREW DbUpdateException) and again after (no exception, pin still written). Guarded the insert the wayMarkOpenedAsyncalready guards its own, with the reason in the remarks: losing the race means somebody else just wrote the pin you wanted.Verified:
dotnet buildclean, dotnet test501/501 passing (the changelog test is what caught the cap). The strip itself I drove end to end against Postgres 15 through the realForYouServicewith a six-card fixture — a card assigned to me on a board I cannot see stays out, a card due in 60 days stays out, and the order came back dated-mine, dated-theirs, undated-mine as documented. The e2e suite I could not run: this container has no podman or docker, so there is no compose stack to point Playwright at.docs/data.mdanddocs/boards-and-permissions.mdcarry the reasoning for both code changes.⏱ 5m 41s · 40 turns · tokens: 81.2k in / 23.3k out (+2165.8k cache-read)

Re-review confirms follow-up commit
5dc54ca("Address the review: one join for the strip, one guarded pin, one kept sentence") resolves all three points from my previous pass:ChangelogTests' 7-bullet cap), but the sentence about an admin promoted in-app not appearing on the members page unless in the deployment's configured admin list is now folded back in, in both locales, and the merged English line measures 258 characters — within the 260-char limit the test enforces.ForYouService's double assignee check — the narrowing query now uses a singleLEFT JOINontoCardAssignees(mirroringBoardService.InTheirOrder's pattern) instead of evaluatingAssignees.Any(...)twice, eliminating the duplicated EXISTS subquery per row.SetPinnedAsync's unguarded race — the insert is now wrapped in the same try/catchDbUpdateExceptionpattern asMarkOpenedAsync, so two tabs pinning the same board concurrently no longer surface a primary-key violation as a circuit error.Docs (
data.md,boards-and-permissions.md) were updated in the same commit to describe the join and the guarded race, keeping them accurate. I found no new correctness issues introduced by this follow-up commit. Good to merge.⏱ 1m 7s · 13 turns · tokens: 80.2k in / 4.3k out (+1200.0k cache-read)
